Life Coach Training
Life Coach Training
Life coaching is an exciting and fulfilling area to be in. The work is
both varied and challenging and it presents enormous satisfaction. You
may have experienced life coaching as a client and felt for yourself the
motivating power of the work. Even if you haven't experienced coaching
for yourself, you can imagine the effect empowering people can have.

For anyone interested in Life Coach training or becoming a life coach,
I'd like to recommend the organisation, Coaching and Mentoring

diploma levels and even a masters course in coaching. They have
specialist courses for people converting from other fields such as
counselling and run courses for people interested in working in areas of
business, education or general work/life balance. Their courses are
professionally designed and are intended to stretch and empower
participants by giving new insights and new skills necessary for
coaching. Their diploma course takes upto a year to complete and
includes both practical sessions and theoretical studies. You'll also

People from all walks of life
People train as a life coach from all walks of life, many come from
business, commerce or industry, others come from the public sector such
as teachers or counsellors and more come from the caring professions.
When you first start to undergo your life coach training, you get an
immediate insight and experience of its uplifting effect. You will find
yourself surrounded by like-minded people eager to learn and share their
experiences of life coaching. Everyone comes to the training with a
positive and excited attitude that creates an atmosphere of support and
learning.
Practical and Theory
The training consists of both practical and theory learning. You will
work with your fellow students to progress your learning and also with
experienced practitioners who will share their knowledge and experience.
The topics covered in the first weekend course, included Listening Skills,
Questioning Techniques, Values, Beliefs and Goal Setting. These and
other 'modules' were all set out in a massive manual that made the
training look both comprehensive and professional.
The Learning Mentor
You will have a learning mentor who will support, guide and oversee
your progress and learning. The mentor will guide you after the first
weekend and will be there to help and assess your progress in the
written assignments and the telephone tutorials. You also have the opportunity to attend
national and local exchanges where members discuss and exchange ideas.
Being a life coach is a continually learning progress.
One great aspect of the training is that it is both fun and
exhilarating, You will experience highs and lows but ultimately more
highs as you progress on your chosen career path. During the training
you will learn more about yourself and your potential skills as well as
learning how to use these skills to help clients.
Remember, you can read
about my experiences of life coach training here...
One of the points which I particularly liked about the course I
undertook is that it, unlike many others, is nationally accredited and
so the qualification is recognised at an NVQ level. Also, another point
I would like to say in favour of the UKCLC is their professionalism and
the fact that they have a code of practice and ethics.
If you are interested in training to become a life coach or
executive coach, please fill in this form which will be sent to the UK
College of Life Coaching*. Your enquiry will be dealt with free of charge
and in confidentiality.
The College of Life Coaching now operates internationally and has
officers in the UK, US, UAE, South Africa, China and the EU. Requests
for the college training prospectus are welcome from around the world.

*In November 2005 the College changed its name to CMIExcel.
This change of name represented a number of developments within the
organisation. Firstly it combined the UK College of Life Coaching with
the College of Executive Coaching, secondly it represented a commitment
to promoting coaching and mentoring (the M in CMI) and, thirdly, it
reflected the growing international work of the organisation (the I in
CMI).
In all, this is a new and exciting time for the organisation, its
members and students. It presents a truly international aspect to the
work and future developments at the organisation.
